Allegedly Drunk Driver Smashes Into Several Vehicles

A driver who appears to have been drunk slammed into several automobiles this past week.  In fact, the driver collided with a vehicle driven by a member of the California Highway Patrol or CHP for short.  KTLA News Channel Five reports the sequence of collisions occurred on the 60 Freeway in Monterey Park.   The initial crash occurred just before 11 p.m.  It was only a couple minutes later when the driver smashed into the police car.

About the Accident

The supposedly drunk driver smashed into a vehicle on the eastbound section of the highway, slightly to the west of Greenwood.  The driver then proceeded to smash into the police car noted above.  Thankfully, this police vehicle was stopped when struck and the officer was not positioned by the vehicle.  The officer was at the site where the collisions occurred to provide assistance with the closure of the freeway.

The driver proceeded to depart the accident scene after striking the police car.  However, the CHP officer pursued this alleged drunkard in spite of the fact that his vehicle endured damage during the crash.  We are still awaiting word as to whether the supposedly drunk driver’s initial collision injured anyone in that vehicle.  Thankfully, police eventually arrested this negligent individual and charged him with driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The Lawsuit to Follow

Multiple personal injury lawsuits might be filed against the 35-year-old-driver responsible for the accident.  This individual clearly acted negligently, meaning he did not provide the sufficient level of care to those in his vicinity.  The injured parties will seek financial compensation through personal injury lawsuits.  If these lawsuits lead to a settlement or a court award, the money will be used to offset the cost of medical care, car repairs, lost wages, diminished earning capacity, pain, suffering and additional losses that are causally related to the collisions.

The merit of the injury victims’ personal injury attorneys will play a large part in determining whether justice is served in the form of financial compensation.  The best personal injury attorneys collect a wide array of evidence, interview witnesses, consider using expert testimony and do everything within the confines of the law to maximize client compensation.
