Carson Crash Kills One

An auto accident that occurred on the Harbor 110 Freeway in Carson has proven deadly.  The accident occurred this past holiday weekend.  A man on the highway was hit and killed by an automobile.

About the Accident

Police officers were dispatched shortly after midnight to respond to an auto accident along the southbound freeway.  The California Highway Patrol states the accident occurred slightly to the north of Carson.

Though there are not many details available pertaining to the accident, it appears as though a man was sitting in the second lane of the southbound freeway at the time of the accident.  This pedestrian was subsequently hit by a 1999 Lexus.  The force at the point of impact was quite powerful considering the Lexus was traveling around 70 miles per hour at the time of the accident.

The Fate of the Victim

The unfortunate victim was declared dead at the scene of the accident.  The individual behind the wheel of the Lexus, a boy who is only 17-years-old, did not suffer any injuries as a result of the crash.  However, we are awaiting word from the police as to whether anyone in the boy’s vehicle was injured. The victim’s name has not yet been released to the public.  The Los Angeles County coroner will notify the victim’s next of kin about the death prior to releasing the name to the public.

Will There be Legal Action?

Police are attempting to determine why the individual who passed away was in the middle of the road at the time of the accident.  If there was any damage to the vehicle as a result of the accident or if anyone in the vehicle suffered an injury, a personal injury lawsuit has a good chance of proving successful.  A personal injury lawsuit will seek financial compensation from the negligent individual’s estate for property damage to the vehicle, medical costs related to injuries suffered by vehicle occupants, pain, suffering and additional losses caused by the accident.

The challenge lies in proving the individual responsible for the accident acted negligently, meaning he failed to provide the appropriate level of care to others in his vicinity. The quality of the victim’s personal injury attorney has the potential to make the difference between justice and a grave injustice.
