Fiery Auto Crash Kills Woman In Lakewood

An auto accident that occurred along Long Beach Boulevard and 10th Street has killed a woman.  The victim, a woman who was 40-years-old, passed away around 10 in the morning.  Below, we provide a closer look at the accident and delve into whether a lawsuit will be filed.

Accident Details

The accident involved a 1994 Buick Le Sabre driven by a 51-year-old man from Los Angeles.  This driver struck a 2008 Honda Accord that was parked between 10th St. and Long Beach Boulevard.  The man then smashed his Le Sabre into a street sign, a tree and a commercial gas line.  Unfortunately, the crash caused the vehicles to catch fire.

The Fallout From the Crash

Police stated the driver who caused the crash did not have a valid diver’s license.  Nor did this driver have auto insurance.  Police are still attempting to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

Though the Long Beach Fire Department was able to provide assistance through a paramedic, the female victim passed away from her injuries at the site of the accident.  Police are not revealing the identities of the woman or the other driver as their next of kin will have to be notified before the public.  The police are still performing an active review of the accident.

The Lawsuit to Follow

The family of the woman who passed away will likely file a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent driver.  If the attorney representing the victim’s family can prove the driver who caused the fiery crash was negligent, the stage will be set for a successful wrongful death lawsuit that obtains financial compensation.

The financial compensation obtained through the wrongful death lawsuit is meant to cover the cost of the family’s costs pertaining to the funeral, burial, loss of financial support, loss of comfort and additional losses.  Any loss causally related to the loved one’s death has the potential to be financially compensable through a wrongful death lawsuit settlement or court award.
